Deputy Governor Christina Papaconstantinou participated in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which were held during 21-25 April 2025 in Washington, D.C., USA.
Ms. Papaconstantinou attended the meetings of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) and the International Banking Seminar of the Group of 30. On Thursday, 24 April, she participated in a roundtable discussion on financial literacy and the implications of the changing geopolitical environment for central banks. The meeting was held in the margins of the Meetings in the broader context of initiatives by EU central banks for closer cooperation among women who participate in central bank governing boards globally.
In the margins of the Spring Meetings, Ms. Papaconstantinou also met with representatives of central banks to discuss international economic developments and the resilience of the Greek economy, as well as with IMF officials, in preparation of an upcoming mission to assess the Greek financial system (Financial Sector Assessment Program), which will be carried out in 2025. The exercise is part of the regular assessment of countries by the IMF, and for Greece it will be carried out for the first time since 2006.
