In performing its supervisory tasks, the Bank of Greece may decide to impose administrative penalties and other administrative measures on supervised entities in cases of non-compliance with the legal and regulatory framework.

As a rule, pecuniary penalties take the form of a fine in favour of the Greek State.

Available below is the annual report of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) on the sanctions imposed by the ECB and the national competent authorities (NCAs) in 2020 in relation to breaches of prudential requirements by significant and less significant credit institutions.
