The Bank of Greece participates in the initiative taken in 1996 by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to have member states publish certain key financials, on the basis of specific rules which ensure that the public is provided with valid information on time.
It is believed that these financials can help economic policy makers and international capital markets form an accurate opinion about the financial position of a country and the risks it may face. Thus, measures can be taken in good time and the adverse effects of a financial crisis can be minimised.
The financials published by the Bank of Greece in the context of SDDS refer to the financial sector and the international economic relationships of the country. The Ministry of Finance and the Hellenic Statistical Authority provide SDSS with additional data about the Greek economy.
