The Hellenic Authors’ Society and the Bank of Greece’s Centre for Culture, Research and Documentation jointly organise a series of events at the Bank of Greece Museum as part of the new “Cultural Pages” inititative. The events, which take place on one Thursday each month at 17:00, began in October 2026 and run through May 2027.
As part of this initiative, members of the Hellenic Authors’ Society, writers, literary critics, and representatives of the academic and educational communities will engage in a dialogue on the power of storytelling and the transformations made possible by literature: from the epic tradition to biography and autobiography; from the enduring continuity of the Greek language to the language of gendered experience; and from writing to reading and the different functions of a book. Among all these, a special focus is on one of today’s most critical challenges: how is the advent of Artificial Intelligence in our lives changing the creative process itself?
The series was launched on 22 October with Fotini Tsalikoglou discussing loss and its potential to become a source of creativity. On 12 November at 17:00, we will be honoured to welcome Professor Theodoros Papaggelis to the Bank of Greece Museum. In his talk, entitled “’The Epic Idea comes and goes insistently': Epic and the West”, he will explore the enduring appeal of epic poetry in Western literature.
