Bank credit to the domestic private sector: April 2014

In April 2014, the annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic private sector stood at -3.7%, from -4.1% in the previous month. The net flow of total credit to the domestic private sector was negative, amounting to €674 million (April 2013: negative net flow of €1,623 million).
Credit to corporations
The net flow of credit to corporations, in April 2014, was negative, amounting to €487 million (April 2013: negative net flow of €1,127 million), and the annual growth rate of credit stood at -4.8%, compared with -5.3% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations stood at -4.6%, compared with -5.1% in the previous month, while the net flow of credit to non-financial corporations was negative and equal to €483 million (April 2013: negative net flow of €1,052 million). The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries stood at -7.5%, in April 2014, compared with -8.5% in March 2014.
Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
The net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative, amounting to €5 million in April 2014 (April 2013: negative net flow of €65 million) and its annual growth rate stood at 0.8%, compared with 0.4% in the previous month.
Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In April 2014, the net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative, amounting to €182 million, (April 2013: negative net flow of €431 million) and its annual growth rate stood at -3.2%, compared with -3.4% in the previous month.
