Statistics on Pension Funds: Q4 2025

- Total assets of pension funds increased by 3.4% to €2,833 million at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025 from €2,741 million in the previous quarter.
Total assets of occupational pension funds (“pension funds”) increased by €92 million compared with the previous quarter and stood at €2,833 million in the fourth quarter of 2025.
In further detail, the overall deposits of pension funds increased by €15 million to €97 million at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025. Deposits’ share in total assets increased to 3.4% compared with 3.0% in the previous quarter.
Total holdings of debt securities increased to €1,186 million at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, from €1,165 million in the previous quarter. This development is mainly due to net purchases of domestic bonds. Debt securities’ share decreased to 41.9% of total assets at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, compared with 42.5% in the previous quarter.
Total holdings of investment fund shares increased to €1,026 million at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, from €979 million in the previous quarter. The increase in these holdings is mainly due to net purchases but also to increases in foreign funds’ share values. Investment fund holdings’ ratio in total assets increased to 36.2%, compared with 35.7% in the previous quarter.
Equity holdings stood at €464 million at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025 from €467 million in the previous quarter. This development is due to net sales of domestic and foreign equities, almost offset by overall share valuation increases. The share of equity holdings in total assets decreased to 16.4% from 17.0% in the previous quarter.
