Central government net borrowing requirement on a cash basis: January - August 2016

In January-August 2016, the central government cash balance recorded a deficit of €1,933 million, compared to a deficit of €1,751 million in the same period in 2015. During this period, ordinary budget revenue amounted to €29,934 million, compared to €27,994 million in the corresponding period of last year. Revenue of €43 million regarding Securities Markets Programme (SMP) income transfers from the Bank of Greece is excluded. Ordinary budget expenditure, including expenditure of about €1,573 million for the repayment of arrears, amounted to €32,283 million, from €30,106 million in January-August 2015.
