Bank credit to the domestic private sector: April 2015

In April 2015, the annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic private sector remained almost unchanged at -2.4%, against -2.5% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of total credit to the domestic private sector was negative at €542 million (April 2014: negative net flow of €674 million).
Credit to corporations
In April 2015, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was negative at €261 million (April 2014: negative net flow of €487 million) and the annual growth rate of credit stood at -2.0%, against -2.2% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations stood at -2.2%, from -2.6% in March 2015, while the monthly net flow of credit to non-financial corporations was negative at €120 million (April 2014: negative net flow of €483 million). The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries stood at 1.6% in April 2015, from 3.7% in the previous month, while the monthly net flow of credit was negative at €140 million (April 2014: negative net flow of €4 million).
Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In April 2015, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was marginally positive at €1 million (April 2014: negative net flow of €5 million), while its annual growth rate remained at -0.6%, unchanged from the previous month.
Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In April 2015, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative at €282 million (April 2014: negative net flow of €182 million), while its annual growth rate remained almost unchanged at -3.1%, against -3.0% in the previous month.
