Bank credit to the domestic private sector - September 2011

The annual growth rate of total credit granted to the domestic private sector decreased to -2.2% in September 2011, compared with -1.3% in August 2011 and 0.0% in December 2010. The net flow of total credit to the domestic private sector was negative amounting to EUR 1,059 million (September 2010: positive net flow of EUR 1,197 million).

Credit to enterprises

The net flow of credit to enterprises in September 2011 was negative, amounting to EUR 584 million (September 2010: positive net flow of EUR 1,174 million) and the annual growth rate of credit decreased to -0.9% from 0.5% in August 2011 (December 2010: 1.1%).

Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships

The net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative, amounting to EUR 108 million in September 2011 (September 2010: positive net flow of EUR 133 million) and the annual rate of change of credit decreased to -5.1% in September 2011 (August 2011: -4.0%, December 2010: 0.3%).

Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions

In September 2011, the net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative, amounting to EUR 367 million (September 2010: negative net flow of EUR 111 million). As a result, the annual growth rate of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions decreased further (September 2011: -3.1%, August 2011: -2.9%, December 2010: -1.2%).
