Bank credit to the domestic private sector: December 2015

In December 2015, the annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic private sector stood at -2.0% from -2.2% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of total credit to the domestic private sector was positive at €210 million, compared with a negative net flow of €458 million in the previous month.

Credit to corporations

In December 2015, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive at €355 million, compared with a negative net flow of €176 million in the previous month, while the annual growth rate of credit stood at -0.9%, against -1.4% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations stood at -1.2% in December 2015, from -1.8% in November 2015, while the monthly net flow of credit to non-financial corporations was positive at €411 million, against a negative net flow of €183 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries stood at 3.2% in December 2015, from 3.7% in the previous month, and the monthly net flow of credit was negative at €56 million, compared with a positive net flow of €6 million in the previous month.

Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships

In December 2015, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative at €47 million, compared with a negative net flow of €25 million in the previous month, while its annual growth rate stood at -1.2%, against -0.6% in the previous month.

Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions

In December 2015, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative at €98 million, compared with a negative net flow of €256 million in the previous month, and its annual growth rate stood at -3.1%, from -3.2% in the previous month.
