Bank credit to the domestic private sector: February 2014

In February 2014, the annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic private sector stood at -4.0%, unchanged from the previous month. The net flow of total credit to the domestic private sector was negative, amounting to EUR 773 million (February 2013: negative net flow of EUR 949 million).

Credit to corporations

The net flow of credit to corporations, in February 2014, was negative, amounting to EUR 439 million (February 2013: negative net flow of EUR 457 million), and the annual growth rate of credit stood at -5.2%, unchanged from the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations stood at -5.1%, compared with -5.3% in the previous month, while the net flow of credit to non-financial corporations was negative and equal to EUR 353 million (February 2013: negative net flow of EUR 579 million). The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries stood at -7.1%, in February 2014, compared with -4.1% in January 2014.

Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships

The net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative, amounting to EUR 19 million in February 2014 (February 2013: negative net flow of EUR 29 million) and its annual growth rate stood at 0.9%, unchanged from the previous month.

Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions

In February 2014, the net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative, amounting to EUR 314 million, (February 2013: negative net flow of EUR 462 million) and its annual growth rate stood at -3.3%, compared with -3.4% in the previous month.
