Statistics on Pension Funds: Q4 2021

- Total assets of pension funds increased to €1,838 million in the fourth quarter of 2021, from €1,777 million in the previous quarter.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, total assets of pension funds increased to €1,838 million compared with €1,777 million in the previous quarter and €1,698 million in the fourth quarter of 2020.

In further detail, the overall deposits of pension funds increased to €310 million at the end of the fourth quarter of 2021, from €278 million in the previous quarter and €212 million in the fourth quarter of 2020. The share of deposits increased to 16.9% of total assets in the fourth quarter of 2021, compared with 15.6% in the previous quarter and 12.5% in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Total holdings of debt securities decreased to €712 million in the fourth quarter of 2021 from €716 million in the previous quarter and €739 million in the fourth quarter of 2020; their share in total assets decreased to 38.8% compared with 40.3% in the previous quarter and 43.5% in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Total holdings of investment fund shares increased to €465 million from €453 million in the previous quarter and €406 million in the fourth quarter of 2020; their share in total assets amounted to 25.3% compared with 25.5% in the previous quarter and 23.9% in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Total holdings of equity increased to €300 million from €285 million in the previous quarter and €279 million in the fourth quarter of 2020; their share in total assets amounted to 16.3% from 16% in the previous quarter, and 16.4% in the fourth quarter of 2020.
