Bank credit to the domestic private sector: June 2012

The annual growth rate of total credit to the domestic private sector stood at -4.3% in June 2012 from -4.5% in the previous month. In June 2012 the net flow of total credit to the domestic private sector was positive amounting to EUR 851 million (June 2011: positive net flow of EUR 407 million).

Credit to enterprises

The net flow of credit to enterprises in June 2012 was positive, amounting to EUR 1,067 million (June 2011: positive net flow of EUR 666 million) and the annual growth rate of credit was less negative at -4.1% from -4.4% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial enterprises stood at -3.9% from -4.3% in May 2012 and the annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries was also less negative at -6.7% in June 2012, from -7.2% in the previous month.

Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships

The net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was positive amounting to EUR 49 million (June 2011: negative net flow of EUR 10 million) and the annual rate of change of credit was less negative than in the previous month (June 2012: -5.4%, May 2012: -5.8%).

Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions

In June 2012, the net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative, amounting to EUR 265 million (June 2011: negative net flow of EUR 249 million). As a result, the annual growth rate of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions stood at -4.4% in June 2012 from -4.3% in May 2012.
