Bank credit to the domestic private sector: August 2013

The annual growth
rate of total credit extended to the domestic private sector stood at -3.9% in
August 2013, from -4.0%
in the previous month. The net flow of total
credit to the domestic private sector was negative, amounting to EUR 823 million (August
2012: negative net flow of EUR 1,046 million).
Credit to enterprises
The
net flow of credit to enterprises, in August 2013, was negative, amounting to EUR
534 million (August 2012: negative net
flow of EUR 657 million), and the annual growth
rate of credit stood at -4.5%, compared with -4.6%
in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth
rate of credit to non-financial
corporations remained unchanged at -3.9%,
while
the net flow of credit to non-financial corporations was negative and equal to
EUR 453 million (August 2012: negative net flow of EUR 474 million). The annual
growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial
intermediaries stood at -13.4% in August 2013, from -14.5% in July 2013.
Credit
to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
The net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative,
amounting to EUR 48 million (August 2012: negative net flow of EUR 42 million) and its annual rate of change remained the same as the
previous month at -0.8%.
Credit to individuals and private non-profit
institutions
In August 2013, the net flow of credit
to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative, amounting to EUR
240 million (August 2012: negative net flow of EUR 347 million), and its annual growth
rate stood at -3.6%, compared with -3.7% in July 2013.
