Bank credit to the domestic private sector: August 2015

In August 2015, the annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic private sector stood at -1.6%, against -1.5% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of total credit to the domestic private sector was negative at €710 million, against a negative net flow of €607 million in the previous month.
Credit to corporations
In August 2015, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was negative at €422 million, compared with a negative net flow of €204 million in the previous month, while the annual growth rate of credit stood at -0.2%, against 0.0% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations stood at -1.4% in August 2015, from -1.1% in July 2015, while the monthly net flow of credit to non-financial corporations was negative at €427 million, against a negative net flow of €839 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries stood at 18.0% in August 2015, from 16.5% in the previous month, and the monthly net flow of credit was positive at €4 million, compared with a positive net flow of €635 million in the previous month.
Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In August 2015, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative at €20 million, compared with a negative net flow of €21 million in the previous month, while its annual growth rate stood at -0.6%, unchanged from the previous month.
Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In August 2015, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative at €267 million, compared with a negative net flow of €382 million in the previous month, and its annual growth rate remained unchanged at -3.1%.
