Statement by Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras on the ECB’s monetary policy strategy review

Following the presentation of the outcome of the European Central Bank (ECB) monetary policy strategy review, Bank of Greece Governor and ECB Governing Council member Yannis Stournaras made the following statement:
“The monetary policy strategy review is important for European citizens; important, because our strategy was last reviewed 18 years ago, in 2003, and a lot has changed since. We have witnessed major changes that affect the economic environment, such as demographic and technological developments, while deep crises have shaken the world. We feel that the time has come for us to take all this into consideration and see how to improve monetary policy for the benefit of all European citizens, including Greeks”.
