Central government net borrowing requirement on a cash basis: January 2026

In January 2026, the central government cash balance recorded a surplus of €1,904 million, compared to a surplus of €560 million in the same month of 2025. During this month, ordinary budget revenue amounted to €5,387 million, compared to €5,698 million in the corresponding month of last year. Ordinary budget expenditure amounted to €4,064 million, from €5,488 million in January 2025.
