Bank credit to the domestic private sector: October 2013

The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic private sector, in October 2013, stood at -3.9%, unchanged from the previous month. The net flow of total credit to the domestic private sector was negative, amounting to EUR 937 million (October 2012: negative net flow of EUR 1,037 million).
Credit to corporations
The net flow of credit to corporations, in October 2013, was negative, amounting to EUR 737 million (October 2012: negative net flow of EUR 605 million), and the annual growth rate of credit stood at -4.8%, compared with -4.7% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations stood at -4.5%, compared with -4.1% in the previous month, while the net flow of credit to non-financial corporations was negative and equal to EUR 751 million (October 2012: negative net flow of EUR 328 million). The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries stood at -9.3% in October 2013, compared with -13.3% in September 2013.
Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
The net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was positive, amounting to EUR 19 million in October 2013 (October 2012: negative net flow of EUR 104 million) and its annual rate of change stood at 0.0%, compared with -0.9% in the previous month.
Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In October 2013, the net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative, amounting to EUR 218 million, (October 2012: negative net flow of EUR 328 million) and its annual growth rate stood at -3.5%, compared with -3.6% in the previous month.
