Bank credit to the domestic private sector: March 2011

The annual growth rate of total credit granted to the domestic private sector slightly decelerated further to -0.4% in March 2011, from -0.3% in February 2011 and 0.0% in December 2010. The net flow of total credit to the domestic private sector was negative, amounting to minus €722 million.
Credit to enterprises
The net flow of credit to enterprises in March 2011 was negative, amounting to minus €310 million (March 2010: negative net flow of €632 million), but the annual growth rate of credit slightly increased to 1.1% compared to 0.9% in February 2011 (December 2010: 1.1%).
Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
The net flow of loans to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative, amounting to minus €85 million in March 2011, and its annual rate of change decreased in comparison with the previous month (March 2011: -0.4%, February 2011: 0.0%, December 2010: 0.3%).
Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In March 2011, the net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative, amounting to minus €326 million (March 2010: positive net flow of €58 million). As a result, the annual growth rate of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions decreased further (March 2011: -2.0%, February 2011: -1.6%, December 2010: -1.3%).
