Bank credit to the domestic private sector: March 2014

In March 2014, the annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic private sector stood at -4.1%, from -4.0% in the previous month. The net flow of total credit to the domestic private sector was negative, amounting to EUR 718 million (March 2013: negative net flow of EUR 305 million).
Credit to corporations
The net flow of credit to corporations, in March 2014, was negative, amounting to EUR 405 million (March 2013: negative net flow of EUR 131 million), and the annual growth rate of credit stood at -5.3%, compared with -5.2% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations stood at -5.1%, unchanged from the previous month, while the net flow of credit to non-financial corporations was negative and equal to EUR 352 million (March 2013: negative net flow of EUR 172 million). The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries stood at -8.5%, in March 2014, compared with -7.1% in February 2014.
Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
The net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was zero in March 2014 (March 2013: positive net flow of EUR 80 million) and its annual growth rate stood at 0.4%, compared with 0.9% in the previous month.
Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In March 2014, the net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative, amounting to EUR 312 million, (March 2013: negative net flow of EUR 254 million) and its annual growth rate stood at -3.4%, compared with -3.3% in the previous month.
