Dimitrios Tsomocos appointed new Deputy Governor of the Bank of Greece

Following a proposal from the General Council of the Bank of Greece, a recommendation from the Ministry of Economy and Finance and a proposal from the Cabinet, Mr Dimitrios Tsomocos was appointed by Presidential Decree as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Greece for a term of six years from 21 September 2026.
Mr Tsomocos is a Professor of Financial Economics at Saïd Business School and a Fellow in Management at St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford.
The new Deputy Governor will be sworn in before the President of the Republic, Mr Konstantinos An. Tasoulas, in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Finance and President of the Eurogroup, Mr Kyriakos Pierrakakis, and the Governor of the Bank of Greece, Mr Yannis Stournaras, on Thursday 24 September 2026.
Following the swearing-in of the new Deputy Governor, the Administration of the Bank of Greece will be as follows:
- Yannis Stournaras, Governor
- Christina Papaconstantinou, Deputy Governor
- Dimitrios Tsomocos, Deputy Governor
