Central government net borrowing requirement on a cash basis: January-May 2026

In January-May 2026, the central government cash balance recorded a deficit of €2,392 million, compared to a surplus of €1,327 million in the same period of 2025. During this period, ordinary budget revenue amounted to €27,830 million, compared to €27,093 million in the corresponding period of last year. Ordinary budget expenditure amounted to €29,197 million, from €24,983 million in January-May 2025.
