Statistics on Pension Funds: Q2 2026

- Total assets of pension funds increased by 8.1% to €3,090 million at the end of the second quarter of 2026 from €2,859 million in the previous quarter.
Total assets of occupational pension funds (“pension funds”) increased by €231 million compared with the previous quarter and stood at €3,090 million in the second quarter of 2026.
In further detail, the overall deposits of pension funds increased by 13 million to €109 million at the end of the second quarter of 2026. Deposits’ share in total assets remained almost unchanged compared with the previous quarter and stood at 3.5%.
Total holdings of debt securities increased to €1,258 million, at the end of the second quarter of 2026, from €1,216 million in the previous quarter. This development is mainly due to net purchases of domestic and foreign bonds as well as increases in prices of foreign bonds. Debt securities’ share in total assets decreased to 40.7% at the end of the second quarter of 2026, compared with 42.5% in the previous quarter.
Total holdings of investment fund shares increased to €1,142 million at the end of the second quarter of 2026, from €1,048 million in the previous quarter. The increase in these holdings is mainly due to a rise in foreign and domestic funds’ share prices. Investment fund holdings’ share in total assets stood at 37.0%, compared with 36.7% in the previous quarter.
Equity holdings increased to €528 million at the end of the second quarter of 2026 from €448 million in the previous quarter. This development is mainly due to an increase in prices of foreign and domestic shares. Equity holdings’ share in total assets increased to 17.1% from 15.7% in the previous quarter.
