Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras is appointed Chair of the Audit Committee of the European Central Bank

Bank of Greece Governor, Yannis Stournaras, has assumed the function of Chair of the Audit Committee of the European Central Bank. In this role, Mr Stournaras succeeds Mr Ewald Nowotny, former Governor of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank.

The Governor of the Bank of Greece had been appointed member of the Audit Committee of the ECB in September 2018.

The Audit Committee assists the Governing Council in its responsibilities in respect of the integrity of financial information; the oversight of internal controls; compliance with applicable laws, regulations and codes of conduct; and the performance of audit functions.
