Bank credit to the domestic private sector: March 2013

The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic private sector was less negative at -3.5% in March 2013, from -3.9% in the previous month. The net flow of total credit to the domestic private sector was negative, amounting to EUR 365 million (March 2012: negative net flow of EUR 1,359 million).
Credit to enterprises
The net flow of credit to enterprises, in March 2013, was negative, amounting to EUR 132 million (March 2012: negative net flow of EUR 979 million), and the annual growth rate of credit was less negative at -3.6% compared with -4.3% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations remained unchanged at -2.8%, while the net flow of credit was negative and equal to EUR 173 million (March 2012: negative net flow of EUR 131 million). The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries was less negative at -13.9% in March 2013, from -22.4% in February 2013.
Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
The net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was positive, amounting to EUR 21 million (March 2012: positive net flow of EUR 26 million) and its annual rate of change stood at -2.0%, from -1.9% in February 2013.
Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In March 2013, the net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative, amounting to EUR 254 million (March 2012: negative net flow of EUR 406 million), and its annual growth rate stood at -3.6%, compared with -3.8% in February 2013.
