Central government net borrowing requirement on a cash basis: January-March 2026

In January-March 2026, the central government cash balance recorded a surplus of €920 million, compared to a surplus of €1,465 million in the same period of 2025. During this period, ordinary budget revenue amounted to €16,956 million, compared to €16,852 million in the corresponding period of last year. Ordinary budget expenditure amounted to €15,813 million, from €15,478 million in January-March 2025.
