Dividend for the financial year 2008

15/04/2009 - Announcements

The Bank of Greece, committed to providing reliable information to investors in general and to its shareholders in particular, pursuant to Law 3556/2007 and Article 4.1.3.4 of the Athens Exchange Rulebook, announces the following:

The 76th Annual Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of the Bank of Greece, held on 15 April 2009, decided, inter alia, to distribute a total dividend of €2.40 per share for the financial year 2008. The dividend will be subject to tax withholding at a rate of 10% in accordance with Article 18 of Law 3697/2008.

The 27th of April 2009 is specified as the ex-date, as from which the shares of the Bank of Greece will be traded on the Athens Exchange ex-dividend.

Entitled to receive a dividend will be all shareholders registered with the Dematerialised Securities System (DSS) as at 29 April 2009 (record date).

Dividend payout will start on 6 May 2009 and will be effected according to the procedure laid down in Article 5.5 of the Athens Exchange Rulebook and the specific provisions of the Operating Regulations of the DSS, as follows:

  1.  through the Operators, namely the securities companies which the shareholders have selected and authorised to collect the dividend on their behalf.
    It should be noted that an investor may revoke authorisation to an Operator by submitting a request to Hellenic Exchanges S.A. (HELEX S.A.) at least five business days before the dividend payment date; or

  2.  directly through the Bank of Greece, either by crediting the bank account designated by the shareholder or by cheque, the latter option applying to cases where investors:
    - have not authorised an Operator;
    - have revoked, by a request to HELEX S.A., the authorisation granted to an Operator to collect the dividend on their behalf;
    - hold their shares through their respective DSS accounts.

The Bank of Greece will be the paying bank.

In the event that, for any reason whatsoever, bank account crediting is not possible, beneficiaries may collect their dividends at the Bank of Greece as from 18 May 2009.
