The Bank of Greece acts as treasurer and fiscal agent of the Greek State. That entails the provision of Treasury management services and the execution of transactions related to the "System of Treasury Accounts".
The Government Financial Operations and Accounts Directorate has been entrusted with the relevant responsibilities.
Main responsibilities
- to act as treasurer and fiscal agent of the Greek State, maintaining all the accounts that constitute the "System of Treasury Accounts", through which the State Budget and the Public Investment Programme are executed;
- to execute domestic and cross-border payments on behalf of the Greek government, i.e. entities of central and general government;
- to execute transactions pertaining to the collective investment portfolio and the cash management reserves of the general government entities and
- to provide security custody services to the Greek government.
