Certain documents must be submitted by credit institutions on behalf of their employees and by the employees themselves, in order for them to be eligible to take certification examinations.

Credit Institutions

In order for their employees to be eligible for certification examinations, certification courses and training courses, credit institutions are required to submit the following documents:

  • Application(attached Template I (a) – in Greek).
  • Detailed list of candidates in Excel format (in Greek) in alphabetical order (to be submitted only by email: sec.certifications@bankofgreece.gr).
  • Proof of payment of the certification fee, in a single submission for all candidates.
  • Certificate under Article 7 of the joint decision issued by the Executive Committee of the Bank of Greece and the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission entitled “Professional certification of credit institution employees engaging in the provision of services under Article 93 of Law 4514/2018” (Government Gazette B 1925/30.5.2018).
  • Certificate under Article 10 of the joint decision issued by the Executive Committee of the Bank of Greece and the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission entitled "Professional certification of credit institution employees engaging in the provision of services under Article 93 of Law 4514/2018” (Government Gazette B 1925/30.5.2018).

Natural persons 

In order to obtain approval for their participation in certification examinations, training courses and certification courses, natural persons (employees) must submit the following documents:

A. Documentation to be submitted for certification examinations

Certification examinations are intended for candidates seeking to obtain a range of certificates (a1, a2, b1, b, c, d, e, f1 and f2).

Type a1, a2, e, f1 and f2

  • Application  (attached Template I (b) – in Greek).
  • Detailed form in Excel format (in Greek - to be submitted only by email: sec.certifications@bankofgreece.gr).
  • Proof of payment of the certification fee (€100).
  • Transcript of criminal record for general use.
  • Certified copy of the required educational qualification (upper secondary school diploma, at least).
  • Detailed curriculum vitae (attached Template II – in Greek).
  • Personal statutory declaration (under Article 8 of Law 1599/86), with authentication of the declarant’s signature, to the effect that no disciplinary proceedings have been instituted and no sanctions have been imposed against him/her for any administrative violation referred to in Article 5(b) of the joint decision issued by the Executive Committee of the Bank of Greece and the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission entitled “Professional certification of credit institution employees engaging in the provision of services under Article 93 of Law 4518/2018” (Government Gazette Β 1925/30.5.2018) or for any similar violation abroad (attached Template III – in Greek). 

Type b1, b, c and d certificates

  • Application (attached Template I (b) – in Greek). 
  • Detailed form in Excel format (in Greek - submitted only by email: sec.certifications@bankofgreece.gr).
  • Proof of payment of the certification fee (€ 100).
  • Transcript of criminal record for general use.
  • Certified copy of the required educational qualification as follows:
    1. For type b1 and b certificates: Certified copy of a degree from a domestic or foreign university or technological education institute or post-secondary educational instituterequiring at least three years of study; and
    2. For type c and d certificates: Certified copy of a degree in economics or science from a domestic or foreign university or technological education institute or from a post-secondary educational institute requiring at least three years of study.
  • Detailed curriculum vitae  (attached Template II – in Greek).
  • Personal statutory declaration (under Article 8 of Law 1599/86), with authentication of the declarant’s signature, to the effect that no disciplinary proceedings have been instituted and no sanctions have been imposed against him/her for any administrative violation referred to in Article 5(b) of the joint decision issued by the Executive Committee of the Bank of Greece and the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission entitled "Professional certification of credit institution employees engaging in the provision of services under Article 93 of Law 4518/2018" (Government Gazette Β 1925/30.5.2018) or for any similar violation abroad (attached Template III – in Greek).
  • Detailed certificate of employment from the employer or certificate of collaboration issued in lieu of a statutory declaration under Law 1599/1986, describing clearly and in detail the nature and duration of the candidate’s employment or collaboration, as proof that the candidate meets the prescribed criterion of relevant experience pursuant to Article 8 of the above joint decision (attached Template IV – in Greek).

B. Documentation to be submitted for certification courses

Certification courses are intended for candidates wishing to obtain type a1, e, f1 and f2 certificates.

  • Application  (attached Template I (c) – in Greek).
  • Detailed form in Excel format (in Greek - submitted only by email: sec.certifications@bankofgreece.gr).
  • Proof of payment of the certification fee (€ 100).
  • Transcript of criminal record for general use. 
  • Certified copy of the required educational qualification (upper secondary school diploma, at least).
  • Detailed curriculum vitae (attached Template II – in Greek).
  • Personal statutory declaration (under Article 8 of Law 1599/86), with authentication of the declarant’s signature, to the effect that no disciplinary proceedings have been instituted and no sanctions have been imposed against him/her for any administrative violation referred to in Article 5(b) of the joint decision issued by the Executive Committee of the Bank of Greece and the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission entitled "Professional certification of credit institution employees engaging in the provision of services under Article 93 of Law 4518/2018" (Government Gazette Β 1925/30.5.2018) or for any similar violation abroad (attached Template III – in Greek).
  • Detailed certificate of employment from the employer or certificate of collaboration issued in lieu of of a statutory declaration under Law 1599/1986, describing clearly and in detail the nature and duration of the candidate’s employment or collaboration, as proof that the candidate meets the prescribed criterion of relevant experience pursuant to Article 9 of the above joint decision (attached Template IV – in Greek).

C. Documentation to be submitted for training courses 

Training courses are intended for holders of type a1, a2, b1, b, c, d, e, f1 and f2 certificates wishing to have their certification renewed.

The candidates must submit the following documents:

  • Application (attached Template I (d) – in Greek).
  • Detailed form in Excel format (in Greek - submitted only by email: sec.certifications@bankofgreece.gr).
  • Proof of payment of the certification fee (€ 30).
  • Transcript of criminal record for general use.
  • Personal statutory declaration (under Article 8 of Law 1599/86), with authentication of the declarant’s signature, to the effect that no disciplinary proceedings have been instituted and no sanctions have been imposed against him/her for any administrative violation referred to in Article 5(b) of the joint decision issued by the Executive Committee of the Bank of Greece and the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission entitled "Professional certification of credit institution employees engaging in the provision of services under Article 93 of Law 4518/2018" (Government Gazette Β 1925/30.5.2018) or for any similar violation abroad (attached Template III – in Greek).
  • Copy of the certificate to be renewed.
