-The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy stood at 7.3% in May 2022, compared with 7.6% in the previous month.
-The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 6.1% in May 2022, compared with 5.7% in the previous month.
-Deposits placed by the private sector increased by €1,311 million in May 2022, compared with an increase of €1,350 million in the previous month.
I. Credit to the domestic economy
Τhe monthly net flow of total credit was positive by €2,011 million in May 2022, compared with a positive net flow of €846 million in the previous month.
Ι.1 Credit to the general government
In May 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was positive by €1,547 million, compared with a positive net flow of €239 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 15.4% from 17.4% in the previous month.
Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
In May 2022, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector increased to 3.2% from 2.8% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was positive by €464 million, compared with a positive net flow of €607 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
In May 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by €589 million, compared with a positive net flow of €699 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 7.8%, from 7.0% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 7.3% from 6.1% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €764 million, compared with a positive net flow of €683 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased to 12.4% from 15.4% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by €175 million, compared with a positive net flow of €16 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In May 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was positive by €23 million, compared with a negative net flow of €26 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 0.8% from 0.3% in the previous month.
Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In May 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €148 million, compared with a negative net flow of €67 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -2.3% from -2.2% in the previous month.
II. Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions
Τhe monthly net flow of total deposits was positive by €1,263 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,531 million in April 2022.
ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government
In May 2022, deposits placed by the general government decreased by €48 million, compared with an increase of €181 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 2.2%, compared with 3.0% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector
In May 2022, deposits placed by the private sector increased by €1,311 million, compared with an increase of €1,350 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 6.3% from 5.8% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits
In May 2022, corporate deposits increased by €1,647 million, compared with an increase of €359 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 14.3% from 10.8% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs increased by €1,488 million, against a decrease of €273 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased by €159 million, compared with an increase of €632 million in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions
In May 2022, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions decreased by €336 million, compared with an increase of €991 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 4.0% from 4.3% in the previous month.

1. The general government includes central government, local government and social security funds.

3. The Bank of Greece is not included in domestic credit institutions.
