- The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy decreased to 3.4% in July 2026 from 5.0% in the previous month.
- The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 9.0% in July 2026 from 8.8% in the previous month.
- Deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €2,013 million in July 2026, compared with an increase of €8,573 million in the previous month.
Ι. Credit to the domestic economy
Τhe monthly net flow of total bank credit was negative by €3,961 million in July 2026, compared with a positive net flow of €3,500 million in the previous month.
Ι.1 Credit to the general government
In July 2026, the monthly net flow of bank credit to the general government was negative by €1,367 million, compared with a positive net flow of €213 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to -2.0% from 0.4% in the previous month.
Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
In July 2026, the annual growth rate of bank credit to the private sector decreased to 6.8% from 7.7% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was negative by €2,593 million, compared with a positive net flow of €3,287 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
In July 2026, the monthly net flow of bank credit to corporations was negative by €2,552 million, compared with a positive net flow of €2,983 million in the previous month, while the annual growth rate decreased to 8.9% from 10.2% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) decreased to 9.1% from 9.8% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by €1,795 million, compared with a positive net flow of €2,235 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased to 7.1% from 13.2% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by €757 million, compared with a positive net flow of €748 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In July 2026, the monthly net flow of bank credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative by €83 million, compared with a positive net flow of €47 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -3.0% from -2.6% in the previous month.
Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In July 2026, the monthly net flow of bank credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was positive by €41 million, compared with a positive net flow of €257 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at 2.5% from 2.6% in the previous month.
ΙΙ. Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions
In July 2026, the monthly net flow of total deposits was negative by €2,189 million, compared with a positive net flow of €8,754 million in the previous month.
ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government
In July 2026, deposits placed by the general government decreased by €175 million, compared with an increase of €181 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 10.7% from -1.7% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector
In July 2026, deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €2,013 million, compared with an increase of €8,573 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 8.9% from 9.3% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits
In July 2026, corporate deposits decreased by €2,254 million, compared with an increase of €7,581 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at 23.1% from 23.0% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs decreased by €2,443 million, against an increase of €7,818 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased by €190 million, compared with a decrease of €237 million in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions
In July 2026, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by €240 million, compared with an increase of €992 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 3.9% from 4.3% in the previous month.
