Central government net borrowing requirement on a cash basis: January - March 2014

In January-March 2014, the central government cash balance showed a deficit of 1,141 million euro, compared to a deficit of 2,760 million euro in the same period in 2013. During this period, ordinary budget revenue, excluding revenue of 62 million euro regarding Securities Market Programme (SMP) income transfers from Eurosystem central banks, amounted to 10,529 million euro, compared to 10,250 million euro in the corresponding period of last year. Ordinary budget expenditure, including expenditure of about 99 million euro for the repayment of arrears, amounted to 12,595 million euro, from 13,889 million euro in January-March 2013.
Τhe cash primary surplus of the state budget (771 million euro) becomes a surplus of 932 million euro if the revenue of 62 million euro regarding Securities Market Programme (SMP) income transfers from Eurosystem central banks is included and expenditure of about 99 million euro for the repayment of arrears is excluded.
