-The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy stood at 9.2% in March 2022, compared with 10.4% in the previous month.
-The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 6.8% in March 2022, compared with 8.1% in the previous month.
-Deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €988 million in March 2022, compared with a decrease of €259 million in the previous month.
I. Credit to the domestic economy
Τhe monthly net flow of total credit was positive by €1,950 million in March 2022, compared with a positive net flow of €945 million in the previous month.
Ι.1 Credit to the general government
In March 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was positive by €1,196 million, compared with a negative net flow of €26 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 27.1% from 33.2% in the previous month.
Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
In March 2022, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector increased to 1.6% from 1.4% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was positive by €754 million, compared with a positive net flow of €971 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
In March 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by €831 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,032 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 4.7%, from 4.4% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 3.4% from 2.9% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €745 million, compared with a positive net flow of €365 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased to 18.7% from 21.1% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €86 million, compared with a positive net flow of €667 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In March 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was positive by €20 million, compared with a positive net flow of €8 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 0.7% from 0.9% in the previous month.
Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In March 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €97 million, compared with a negative net flow of €69 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -2.1% from -2.3% in the previous month.
II. Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions
Τhe monthly net flow of total deposits was negative by €789 million, compared with a negative net flow of €8 million in February 2022.
ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government
In March 2022, deposits placed by the general government increased by €200 million, compared with an increase of €250 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 3.4%, compared with -1.5% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector
In March 2022, deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €988 million, compared with a decrease of €259 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 7.0% from 8.7% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits
In March 2022, corporate deposits decreased by €1,190 million, compared with a decrease of €215 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 13.8% from 19.9% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs decreased by €475 million, against a decrease of €333 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased by €715 million, compared with an increase of €118 million in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions
In March 2022, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by €201 million, compared with a decrease of €44 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 5.0% from 5.5% in the previous month.

1. The general government includes central government, local government and social security funds.
2. Deposits include repos.
3. The Bank of Greece is not included in domestic credit institutions.
