Acceptance of instant payments for the sale to the public of gold sovereigns, collector coins and commemorative coins, as well as the supply of euro coins at the premises of the Bank of Greece

The Bank of Greece announces that from 21 October 2024 it will accept instant credit transfers for the sale to the public of gold sovereigns, collector coins and commemorative coins, as well as the supply of euro coins by the Head Office and its Branches.
In particular, the public will be able to make an instant credit transfer from an account held with a Payment Services Provider located in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) for transactions of up to €100,000.
Instant payments are an environmentally friendly, economical, transparent, secure and easy payment solution that facilitates public transactions with the Bank of Greece.
It should be noted that, for the purchase and sale of gold sovereigns and for the supply of collector coins, the use of cash is allowed with a transaction limit of €500, while for the supply of euro coins, the conditions mentioned on the Bank of Greece website apply.
With regard to the customer identification process, the provisions of the legislative framework on the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing shall apply.
