Statistics on Insurance Corporations: Q2 2026

- Total assets of insurance corporations increased by 4.5% to €22,926 million in the second quarter of 2026 from €21,948 million in the previous quarter.
- Total insurance technical reserves increased by €503 million to €16,495 million from €15,992 million in the previous quarter.
Total assets of insurance corporations increased by €978 million from the previous quarter and stood at €22,926 million at the end of the second quarter of 2026.
In further detail, total insurance corporations’ deposits decreased by €28 million to €532 million at the end of the second quarter of 2026. Deposits with domestic credit institutions decreased by €19 million to €363 million, while deposits with foreign credit institutions decreased by €9 million to €169 million. Deposits’ share in total assets decreased to 2.3% in the second quarter of 2026 from 2.6% in the previous quarter.
Total holdings of debt securities increased to €10,626 million at the end of the second quarter of 2026 from €10,572 million in the previous quarter. This development is due to an increase in prices of foreign bonds, partially offset by net sales, mainly of foreign bonds. Debt securities’ share in total assets decreased to 46.3% in the second quarter of 2026 from 48.2% in the previous quarter.
Total holdings of investment fund shares increased to €8,276 million compared with €7,315 million in the previous quarter. The increase in these holdings’ value arises mainly from increases in prices as well as net purchases of both domestic and foreign shares. Investment funds share in total assets increased to 36.1% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with 33.3% in the previous quarter.
Equity holdings increased to €1,084 million from €996 million in the previous quarter. This development is mainly attributed to increases in domestic equity prices. Equity holdings’ share in total assets stood at 4.7% in the second quarter of 2026 from 4.5% in the previous quarter.
On the liabilities side, own funds increased to €4,161 million at the end of the second quarter of 2026 from €3,894 million in the previous quarter. Total insurance technical reserves increased by €503 million to €16,495 million. In further detail, life technical reserves increased by €462 million to €12,901 million, whereas non-life technical reserves increased by €41 million to €3,594 million. The share of life technical reserves corresponds to 78.2% of total technical reserves.
