- The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy stood at 7.6% in April 2022, compared with 9.2% in the previous month.
- The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 5.7% in April 2022, compared with 6.8% in the previous month.
- Deposits placed by the private sector increased by €1,350 million in April 2022, compared with a decrease of €989 million in the previous month.
Ι. Credit to the domestic economy
Τhe monthly net flow of total credit was positive by €848 million in April 2022, compared with a positive net flow of €2,116 million in the previous month.
Ι.1 Credit to the general government
In April 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was positive by €239 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,362 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 17.4% from 27.3% in the previous month.
Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
In April 2022, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector increased to 2.8% from 1.6% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was positive by €609 million, compared with a positive net flow of €754 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
In April 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by €701 million, compared with a positive net flow of €831 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 7.0%, from 4.7% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 6.1% from 3.3% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €685 million, compared with a positive net flow of €699 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased to 15.4% from 19.4% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €16 million, compared with a positive net flow of €132 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In April 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative by €26 million, compared with a positive net flow of €20 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 0.3% from 0.7% in the previous month.
Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In April 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €67 million, compared with a negative net flow of €97 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -2.2% from -2.1% in the previous month.
ΙΙ. Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions
Τhe monthly net flow of total deposits was positive by €1,531 million, compared with a negative net flow of €790 million in March 2022.
ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government
In April 2022, deposits placed by the general government increased by €181 million, compared with an increase of €200 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 3.0%, compared with 3.4% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector
In April 2022, deposits placed by the private sector increased by €1,350 million, compared with a decrease of €989 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 5.8% from 7.0% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits
In April 2022, corporate deposits increased by €359 million, compared with a decrease of €1,191 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 10.8% from 13.8% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs decreased by €273 million, against a decrease of €475 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased by €632 million, compared with a decrease of €715 million in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions
In April 2022, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by €991 million, compared with an increase of €201 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 4.3% from 5.0% in the previous month.

- The general government includes central government, local government and social security funds.
- Deposits include repos.
- The Bank of Greece is not included in domestic credit institutions.
