- The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy increased to 4.5% in October 2024 from 3.2% in the previous month.
- The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 2.7% in October 2024 compared with 2.6% in the previous month.
- Deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €2,258 million in October 2024, compared with an increase of €2,324 million in the previous month.
I. Credit to the domestic economy
Τhe monthly net flow of total credit was positive by €2,775 million in October 2024, compared with a positive net flow of €2,048 million in the previous month.
Ι.1 Credit to the general government
In October 2024, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was positive by €894 million, compared with a positive net flow of €105 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -2.4%, compared with -2.0% in the previous month.
Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
In October 2024, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector increased to 9.1% from 6.6% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was positive by €1,882 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,943 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
In October 2024, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by €2,020 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,915 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 14.8% from 10.9% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 13.4% from 9.2% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €2,198 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,610 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased to 26.8% from 25.0% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by €177 million, compared with a positive net flow of €305 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In October 2024, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative by €61 million, compared with a positive net flow of €48 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at 0.4%, compared with 0.3% in the previous month.
Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In October 2024, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €78 million, compared with a negative net flow of €21 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -0.7%, compared with -0.8% in the previous month.
II. Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions
In October 2024, the monthly net flow of total deposits was negative by €1,869 million, compared with a positive net flow of €2,361 million in September 2024.
ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government
In October 2024, deposits placed by the general government increased by €389 million, compared with an increase of €37 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -12.1%, compared with -14.2% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector
In October 2024, deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €2,258 million, compared with an increase of €2,324 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate remained unchanged at 3.3%.
ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits
In October 2024, corporate deposits decreased by €2,122 million, compared with an increase of €1,994 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at 6.3% compared to 6.2% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs decreased by €2,286 million, against an increase of €2,239 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased by €164 million, compared with a decrease of €244 million in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions
In October 2024, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions decreased by €136 million, compared with an increase of €330 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at 2.3% from 2.4%, in the previous month.

1. The general government includes central government, local government and social security funds.
2. Deposits include repos.
3. The Bank of Greece is not included in domestic credit institutions.
