- The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy stood at 13.1% in September 2021, compared with 13.5% in the previous month.
- The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 11.4%, compared with 11.9% in the previous month.
- Deposits placed by the private sector increased by €443 million in September 2021, compared with an increase of €1,480 million in the previous month.
I. Credit to the domestic economy
Τhe monthly net flow of total credit was positive by €1,994 million in September 2021, compared with a positive net flow of €991 million in the previous month.
Ι.1 Credit to the general government
In September 2021, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was positive by €1,457 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,328 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 51.5% from 55.0% in the previous month.
Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
In September 2021, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector stood at 0.7% compared with 0.8% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was positive by €537 million, compared with a negative net flow of €337 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
In September 2021, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by €603 million, compared with a negative net flow of €190 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 3.5%, from 3.7% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) decreased to 2.8% from 3.2% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €376 million, compared with a negative net flow of €228 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased to 11.4% from 8.4% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €227 million, compared with a positive net flow of €38 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In September 2021, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was positive by €31 million, compared with a positive net flow of €2 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 2.6% from 2.2% in the previous month.
Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In September 2021, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €97 million, compared with a negative net flow of €148 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -2.7%, from -2.6% in the previous month.
II. Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions
Τhe monthly net flow of total deposits was positive by €210 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,622 million in August 2021.
ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government
In September 2021, deposits placed by the general government decreased by €233 million, compared with an increase of €142 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -16.7%, compared with -15.7% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector
In September 2021, deposits placed by the private sector increased by €443 million, compared with an increase of €1,480 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 13.3% from 13.9% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits
In September 2021, corporate deposits decreased by €60 million, compared with an increase of €1,386 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 33.2% from 25.9% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs increased by €248 million, against an increase of €1,011 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased by €308 million, compared with an increase of €375 million in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions
In September 2021, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by €503 million, compared with an increase of €94 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 9.9% from 9.7% in the previous month.

- The general government includes central government, local government and social security funds.
- Deposits include repos.
- The Bank of Greece is not included in domestic credit institutions.
