- The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy stood at 7.2% in September 2022, compared with 7.7% in the previous month.
- The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 6.1% in September 2022, compared with 5.2% in the previous month.
- Deposits placed by the private sector increased by €2,255 million in September 2022, compared with an increase of €89 million in the previous month.
I. Credit to the domestic economy
Τhe monthly net flow of total credit was positive by €1,069 million in September 2022, compared with a negative net flow of €1,629 million in the previous month.
Ι.1 Credit to the general government
In September 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was positive by €317 million, compared with a negative net flow of €1,609 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 9.1% from 10.9% in the previous month.
Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
In September 2022, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector increased to 6.0% from 5.8% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was positive by €753 million, compared with a negative net flow of €20 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
In September 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by €723 million, compared with a positive net flow of €133 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 12.5%, from 12.2% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 12.3% from 11.5% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €745 million, compared with a positive net flow of €160 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased to 14.9% from 19.6% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by €22 million, compared with a negative net flow of €27 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In September 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was positive by €57 million, compared with a negative net flow of €21 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 0.8% from 0.3% in the previous month.
Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In September 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €27 million, compared with a negative net flow of €132 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate remained almost unchanged at -2.2% compared to -2.1% in the previous month.
II. Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions
In September 2022, the monthly net flow of total deposits was positive by €1,807 million, compared with a positive net flow of €616 million in August 2022.
ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government
In September 2022, deposits placed by the general government decreased by €448 million, compared with an increase of €527 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 3.3%, compared with 5.6% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector
In September 2022, deposits placed by the private sector increased by €2,255 million, compared with an increase of €89 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 6.2% from 5.2% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits
In September 2022, corporate deposits increased by €1,502 million, compared with a decrease of €376 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 11.5% from 7.8% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs increased by €1,879 million, against a decrease of €412 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased by €377 million, compared with an increase of €35 million in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions
In September 2022, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by €753 million, compared with an increase of €465 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 4.6% from 4.4% in the previous month.

1. The general government includes central government, local government and social security funds.
2. Deposits include repos.
3. The Bank of Greece is not included in domestic credit institutions.
