In April 2020, the annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy increased to 2.1% from 0.7% in the previous month, while the monthly net flow was positive by €2,570 million, compared with a positive net flow of €3,689 million in the previous month.
The annual growth rate of total deposits decreased to 6.8% from 8.0% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by €2,683 million, compared with a positive net flow of €5,150 million in March 2020.
- Credit to the domestic economy
Ι.1 Credit to the general government[1]
In April 2020, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was positive by €2,573 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,987 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 12.0% from 3.8% in the previous month.
Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
In April 2020, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector increased to 0.3% from 0.1% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit to the private sector was negative by €3 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,702 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
In April 2020, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by €265 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,856 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 4.1% from 3.6% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations increased to 3.9% from 3.4% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €456 million, against a positive net flow of €1,651 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased to 5.6% from 6.1% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by €191 million, compared with a positive net flow of €205 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In April 2020, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative by €28 million, compared with a positive net flow of €20 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -2.4%, unchanged from the previous month.
Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In April 2020, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €240 million, compared with a negative net flow of €175 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -3.0% from -2.9% in the previous month.

ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government
In April 2020, deposits placed by the general government decreased by €4,112 million, compared with an increase of €2,304 million in the previous month and the annual growth rate decreased to -9.5% from 1.7% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector
In April 2020, deposits placed by the private sector increased by €1,429 million, compared with an increase of €2,846 million in the previous month and the annual growth rate decreased to 8.6% from 8.8% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits
In April 2020, corporate deposits decreased by €155 million, compared with an increase of €1,505 million in the previous month and the annual growth rate decreased to 15.6% from 19.8% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from non-financial corporations decreased by €207 million, against an increase of €1,677 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased by €52 million, compared with a decrease of €172 million in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions
In April 2020, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by €1,584 million, compared with an increase of €1,341 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 7.1% from 6.5% in the previous month.
