- The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy decreased to 6.2% in February 2025 from 7.1% in the previous month.
- The annual growth rate of total deposits increased to 4.9% in February 2025 from 4.3% in the previous month.
- Deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €1,701 million in February 2025, compared with a decrease of €4,787 million in the previous month.
Ι. Credit to the domestic economy
Τhe monthly net flow of total credit was negative by €7 million in February 2025, compared with a negative net flow of €1,380 million in the previous month.
Ι.1 Credit to the general government
In February 2025, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was negative by €1,416 million, compared with a positive net flow of €290 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to -0.3% from 2.6% in the previous month.
Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
In February 2025, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector increased to 10.5% from 10.0% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was positive by €1,409 million, compared with a negative net flow of €1,671 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
In February 2025, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by €1,438 million, compared with a negative net flow of €1,424 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 16.5% from 15.9% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 16.7% from 15.9% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €1,277 million, compared with a negative net flow of €876 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased to 14.6% from 16.1% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €161 million, compared with a negative net flow of €548 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In February 2025, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was positive by €4 million, compared with a negative net flow of €102 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate remained unchanged at 0.2%, compared to the previous month.
Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In February 2025, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €33 million, compared with a negative net flow of €144 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -0.5%, unchanged from the previous month.
ΙΙ. Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions
In February 2025, the monthly net flow of total deposits was negative by €774 million, compared with a negative net flow of €4,324 million in January 2025.
ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government
In February 2025, deposits placed by the general government increased by €928 million, compared with an increase of €463 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at 15.3% from -5.9% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector
In February 2025, deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €1,701 million, compared with a decrease of €4,787 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 4.5% from 4.8% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits
In February 2025, corporate deposits decreased by €1,306 million, compared with a decrease of €3,785 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 9.4% from 10.0% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs decreased by €1,259 million, against a decrease of €3,843 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased by €46 million, compared with an increase of €58 million in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions
In February 2025, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions decreased by €396 million, compared with a decrease of €1,002 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate remained almost unchanged at 3.0% from 3.1%, in the previous month.
