Professor Lucas Bretschger, is:
- Professor of Economics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich)
- Since 2011, the Director of CER-ETH, the Center for Economic Research at the ETH
- President Εlect of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) (his two-year presidential term will begin in January 2016)
- Αssociated Chair at the Centre for Energy Policy and Economics (CEPE), ETH Zurich
- External Research Associate at OxCarre (Oxford Centre for the Analysis of Resource Rich Economies), University of Oxford, UK
- He has significant contributions in the area of environmental and resource economics and in particular in:
- sustainability and climate change policies
- growth and environment
- resource management and
- energy economics
- While his use of models to better understand these complex interactions provide critical insights for effective policy making.
- Along with his academic research, Professor Bretschger is an active participant in the design of climate change policies as a member and expert of the Swiss delegation in the UN United Nations climate change conferences
